Athens Area Humane Society Puppies

This afternoon, my roommate and I volunteered at the Athens Area Humane Society to help provide some daily enrichment and socialization to some of their puppies! First, I just have to say how beautiful and clean this facility is. The dogs each have their own indoor/outdoor run that is turfed and they have huge outdoor play areas where volunteers can take them out to get some exercise! The humane society also has a wellness clinic that is open to the public and provides medical care at a decent price! Such a great resource for individuals in the Athens community. If you are interested in adopting from the Athens humane society, please visit their website or show up to their facility! https://athenshumanesociety.org

My roommate and I were able to play with 5 puppies today:

Avery: Avery is a lab mix that is medium-high energy, 40 pounds, and is dog and people friendly!!! She loved getting out today to play outside and interact with people. She was super loving and would be a great addition to an active family that has an existing dog.

Daffodil: She is a 6 month old hound mix that is people and dog friendly!! She has the prettiest red coat and hazel eyes. While volunteering, a worker told us that Daffodil needs to have another dog with her because of her anxiety. She was housed with Avery, and they loved each other! Daffodil was the calmer of the two, and was very gentle and interactive.

Kendall: Kendall is a black lab mix and looks like she will be medium-large when full grown. She is a little shy compared to her littermate, Karla. She is such a cuddler and wanted to sit with my roommate & I the whole time. She has the perfect calm temperament! Since she is a little timid, I think she could benefit from having another dog in the home to help her loosen up!

Karla: Karla is the other black lab mix sibling and was the wild card! While Kendall was more reserved, Karla was running around playing with toys and growling at herself. She is mostly black while Kendall has white markings on her face and chest.

Felicity: Felicity is a pit-bull mix and is the sweetest, chunkiest little puppy. She wanted to be right near Anna Mitchell and I the whole time we were with her. She was eager to play but was just as happy to sit and cuddle in our laps. I think she would make the perfect first puppy for a family (after doing proper research, of course)! She is the perfect mix of all play and all cuddles.
